Clara E. Preiato

Clara E. Preiato, 94, of Lauderhill, Florida, passed away on May 29, 2026. Born on January 11, 1932, in the Bronx, New York. Clara was the daughter of the late Salvatore & Anna (Perrozzi) Nigro. Throughout her life, she was deeply beloved—steadfast in faith, devoted to those she held dear, and quietly defined by a tireless work ethic that shaped the way she cared for her family and met each day.

Clara built her career as a secretary in the insurance industry, bringing diligence, reliability, and pride to her work. Her steady presence and commitment were hallmarks of a life lived with purpose and humility.

She was the wife of the late Ilario Preiato, who passed on 12/24/1998. Clara is survived by her son, Thomas Preiato; her daughter, Stella Marino; her grandchildren, Jason Marino, Nina Marino, Stephanie Waldbillig (Jeffery), and Richard Preiato (Lauren); and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Anneliese.

Clara was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother, Dante Nigro; her sister, Margaret Centrone; and her son, Richard Preiato Sr.

Those who knew Clara will remember the warmth she brought to everyday life—especially through cooking, baking, and entertaining, where her care for family and friends could be felt in every detail. She also found comfort and joy in crocheting, knitting, playing cards, and vacationing, pursuits that reflected her patient hands and her enduring love of togetherness.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Bridge at Inverrary and to the VITAS Healthcare Staff for their care, support, and compasion.

Visitation will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064, on June 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home on June 2, 2026, at 10:00 am. A Committal Service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens North, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064.
