Cristina Chavez Hernandez

With a broken heart, I share that my beautiful mom, Cristina Chávez Hernández, passed away on November 21, 2024, after bravely battling cancer for four years. She was the strongest person I’ve ever known, facing each day with love and courage until her last breath.

My mom was an exceptional mother who poured her heart and soul into raising her three children: Jessy, Yenny, and Brandon Chávez. She also loved my cousin Roberto Chávez as if he were her own, proudly calling him “Mi Roberto.” Her love knew no bounds, and it extended to her grandchildren, Andrez, Adrian, and Sebastián, who were her greatest joy. She worked tirelessly to make sure we never lacked anything.

She was the second youngest of ten siblings and leaves a deep void in the hearts of Carmen, Maricela, Daniel, Celia, Heriberto, Miguel, José Luis, José Antonio, and Lourdes Chávez. My mom was not just a sister; she was their light and support. With her contagious laugh, her wise words, and her open heart, she turned the hardest moments into memories filled with love. Many of my cousins would say that she wasn’t just their aunt; she was like a second mother to them.

My mom was more than the heart of our family; she was the soul of every space she filled. Her home was always open to anyone who needed it, and her kindness and warmth touched everyone. With her stories, her jokes, and her unique way of making everyone feel special, she brought so many people together and taught us to cherish life’s small miracles.

On November 21, she was reunited with her parents, Maribel Hernández Ramírez and Cornelio Chávez González, whom she always deeply missed. Though my heart is shattered by her passing, I find comfort in knowing she is now at peace and back in their arms.

Mom, you were everything to us. You taught us what true love, family, and strength mean. I promise to keep our family united, just as you always wanted.

I love you more than words can express, in this life and the next.

Rest in peace, mom. I will love you forever.

Con el alma echa pedazos, comparto que mi hermosa mamá, Cristina Chávez Hernández, falleció el 21 de Noviembre de 2024, después de luchar valientemente durante cuatro años contra el cáncer. Fue la persona más fuerte que he conocido, enfrentando cada día con amor y valentía hasta el último suspiro.

Mi mamá fue una madre extraordinaria que dedicó su vida a sus tres hijos: Jessy, Yenny y Brandon Chávez. También amó a mi primo Roberto Chávez como si fuera suyo, llamándolo con mucho orgullo “Mi Roberto.” Su amor no conocía límites y se extendía a sus nietos, Andrez, Adrian y Sebastián, quienes fueron su mayor alegría. Ella trabajó incansablemente para asegurarse de que nunca nos faltara nada.

Era la segunda más joven de diez hermanos y deja un vacío profundo en los corazones de Carmen, Maricela, Daniel, Celia, Heriberto, Miguel, José Luis, José Antonio y Lourdes Chávez. Mi mamá no solo era su hermana, era su luz y su apoyo. Con su risa contagiosa, sus palabras sabias y su corazón abierto, convirtió los momentos más difíciles en recuerdos llenos de amor. Muchos de mis primos dirían que no era solo su tía, era como una segunda madre para ellos.

Mi mamá era más que el corazón de nuestra familia; era el alma de todos los espacios que llenaba. Su hogar siempre estaba abierto para cualquiera que lo necesitara, y su bondad y calidez llegaban a todos. Con sus historias, sus bromas y su forma única de hacer que cualquiera se sintiera especial, unió a tantas personas y nos enseñó a valorar los pequeños milagros de la vida.

El 21 de noviembre, volvió a reunirse con sus padres, Maribel Hernández Ramírez y Cornelio Chávez González, a quienes siempre extrañó profundamente. Aunque mi corazón está destrozado por su partida, encuentro consuelo en saber que ahora está en paz y de nuevo en sus brazos.

Mamá, eras todo para nosotros. Nos enseñaste lo que significa el amor verdadero, la unión familiar y la fortaleza. Prometo mantener nuestra familia unida, como tú siempre deseaste.

A visitation will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home @ Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064, on November 25, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The funeral service is scheduled for November 26, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 S Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33062.

A graveside service will follow at the City of Pompano Beach Cemetery, 400 SE 23rd Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33062, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm on November 26, 2024.

The family kindly ask that you dress in black and her favourite flowers were red roses and sunflowers.
