

Edward William Schaefer, known as Ed or Eddie to his friends, was 57. Ed died suddenly at home on Monday, April 13th, 2015 from conditions relating to heart failure. Ed was an only child born June14th, 1957 to Betty and Edward C. Schaefer in Cleveland Ohio. Ed grew up in Ohio and in Florida and was a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida where he lived with his wife and daughter for the past 22 years.
Ed was a great adventurer and he lived his life to the fullest. In his youth, he was on the United States Junior World Cycling Team. Later Ed enjoyed Sky Diving and Sports Cars. But Ed’s true passion was motorcycling. Besides riding his motorcycle to work every day, Ed’s motorcycling adventures took him on journeys to nearly every state in the country including Alaska and the Arctic Circle. He also traveled to Nova Scotia, and Canada, and has toured all over Europe. His most recent motorcycle adventure took him on a 3,000 mile trip through Chile and Argentina along the Andes Mountains all the way to Tierra del Fuego, the end of the world!
Ed was a Vice President in charge of inventory management at Southern Wine & Spirits (SWS). Ed served SWS in various leadership capacities here in Florida and in California where he has built many enduring friendships over his more than 30-year tenure. As a devoted husband and father, Ed is survived by his wife, Ann, who resided with him in Pompano Beach, and by his daughter, Ann, who currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana. Ed also leaves behind friends and colleagues who have played very important roles in his life. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 24th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Pompano Beach. A Celebration of Life reception will follow the service at the Hillsboro Club.
