Freda , Gene will be missed by all. We are so sorry for your loss of your best

Dear Aunt Freda, Shane and Justin,
Sympathy & Condolences. Sorry for your loss. Uncle Gene was such a gentle giant with a BIG kind heart. I remember the time he came to watch me play baseball at the Thompson Club. The umpire made a bad call that uncle Gene didn't agree with, he voiced his opinion. The umipre made a bad comment about uncle Gene and uncle Gene punched him right in the eye. He had a black eye for about couple of weeks. He's in a better place now watching over all of us. (I sure hope GOD don't make a bad comment about any of his family or friends.) You should be so very PROUD of the dedicated Husband, Father and Grandpap that he was.  He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.

For they knew the pain and suffering that you were going through.
I thought about so many things, as I held tightly to your hand.
Oh, how I wished you were strong and happy once again.

I struggled with my selfish thoughts, for I wanted you to stay.
So we could walk and talk again, like we did-just yesterday.

Dear Freda , Shane and Justin
I just want to thank you for sharing your time with Gene with me . I hope in some small way that it brought some comfort to Gene . When I left Gene it was one of the toughest things I had to do . From the time I left the house until I got home my eyes were filled with tears. Then I started to think of all the fun times Gene and I had . I remember when we were kids and Gene was on the baseball team . Gene had the smallest firstbaseman mit that anyone ever had . Everyone would laugh at it but nothing got by Gene . Then there was the time Gene wrecked sissy's car . We all got together and made up a story about a hit run ( not knowing that we wrecked in front of my sisters  friends house . Busted again ! Gene also was a great golfer until he played with me. To this day I don't think I ever laughed as much as the day I threw Gene out of the golf cart . I seemed to make a quick turn going down a hill in a golf cart and out Gene went sailing . As he kneeled on the ground in his new jeans all grass stained he asked me if anyone saw what happened . At that moment a guy up on the hill yelled down that I was trying to kill him . The laughter lasted all the way home . Gene was also the professional gambler . He took Lynn and me to the meadows to bet on the horses . When it came to the final race he told me and Lynn to pick a horse for the trifecta . He reminded Lynn and I not to yell if we won because somebody might rob us . Well we won and everyone at the track knew it . These are some of the things that take the tears away and bring a smile to my face when I think of Gene . I know in the coming days there will be many tears shed but once You , Shane and Justin have a chance to talk about the good times a smile will come back to your face . In closing Freda I remember what your Sister Joan wrote . Gene was not a brother in law to her , he was like her real brother . I understand her completely because I couldn't have picked a better brother to grow up with . I will always remember him and love him .( You all take care ) Love Tom and Lynn !!!

I would like to thank you for sharing your time with me and being able to spend time with Gene . Leaving your house and saying goodby to Gene was one of the hardest things to do. While I left with tears in my eyes I could only think back to better days . I think back when Gene was young playing baseball . He had the smallest firstbasemen mit that everyone wondered how he could catch a ball with it . I remember when Gene wrecked sissy's car and we all made up the story of what happened . As usual we got busted . I still laugh today when I threw him out of the golf cart and he asked me if anyone else saw it happen. At the same time a guy at the top of the hill yells out that I am trying to kill you. We couldn't stop laughing all the way home .I also remember the time when Gene ,Lynn and I went to the Meadows to bet on the horses . The last race Gene told us to pick a horse and we would we would play the trifecta . Gene told lynn if we win  , don't yell if we won so nobody tries to still our money. So what did all three of us do , we screemed so the whole track could here us.Freda ,in your sisters letter she said she always thought of Gene as her own brother . I can understand that because it was great having a brother like Gene . I will miss him but I will always remember the the good times .I am sure When you sit and talk to Shane and Justin about the good times the tears will turn to smiles as they have for me . Dave and I were so privledged to have Gene as a dear friend and to have that friendship last throughout the yrs..  We would like to be present at his funeral service to celebrate his life.

Dear Aunt Freda and Family, I will remember uncle Gene with a grin on his face, the love in his heart, a good joke or wise crack, the great big bear hugs, and a good tip for the races.
