I knew at a young age  my mother was not ordinary. One day in kindergarten, I had to attend the morning and afternoon class. She has just gotten new olive green  carpet installed and forgot to pick me up. Luncheons with elementary school classmates were popular. It was interesting to see what other kids ate for lunch. I learned there was a better tuna- Bumble Bee, I didn’t mind eating. The more expensive kind. When it was my turn, I remember how surprised my classmates were at one of MY luncheons. My mother brought out a hollowed out watermelon filled with cantaloupe, honey dew,and watermelon balls. My classmates squealed with delight.   No one had ever served this.  Sometimes for dinner, she prepared escargot in shells. I use to get them out with a toothpick and give them to Dad. I think it was 3rd grade, she made me wear a beret. She made sure it was worn right- slanted. My brother had a shirt with a mandarin collar. He also wore a western bolo tie, (Adjustable string tie.  I had to look that up). Sometimes, she was a bit too blunt. One day, I was watching her put on her make up. She turned to me and said “Don’t worry someday you will be pretty too -when you can wear makeup”.  I was mortified. After a while, I realized she wasn’t being mean. She was just being herself. I hated going shopping with her. She always wanted a deal.  “What if I pay cash? No tax?”.  My mother gave me a disposable camera to bring on our class trip to Washington. I was so excited to take my own pictures. I remember being at the Lincoln Monument. I kept going closer to get the perfect picture. My mother brought my picture to her card game to show to her friends. She was hysterical- I had taken a picture of Lincoln’s crotch.  I can go on and on, these are some of my favorite stories.  I will miss my Mother terribly.  She was always there for me. But most of all, I will miss her gregarious nature.  It comforts me that she is now together with my Father. RIP Mom 😘

She was quite the character, laughing, cracking jokes, just a fun person to be around.. Once you experience Fran, you will  never forget her. ❤️

How poetic it was to have seen you for the last time on Valentine's Day.  I held your hand and spoke to you while your eyes remained closed, knowing all the time you were aware of my presence despite being unable to speak.  This was a special moment I will always cherish, among many others involving your presence in my life.
