

James H. Clyatt, 94, an honored Pompano Beach pioneer went home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2024. James was the only child of the late Russell and Estelle Clyatt. He was born in Atlanta, GA on February 17, 1930.
James came to Pompano in 1944 where he attended school and was a proud Pompano High “Beanpicker”. James had a love for his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. He served in the 808th Air Police Squadron and earned the National Defense Service Medal. After his discharge he returned to Pompano to follow in his father’s profession as a farmer.
James loved his Lord and the Pompano community. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Pompano and Pompano Historical Society. He was also involved with the Elks and Masons.
James is predeceased by his wife, Ann Sparrow Clyatt, (1995). He is survived by his close friend and caregiver of 11 years, Vivalee Cooper and her family, cousins, Lee Ivey, Dencie Brogdon, whom he would stay with in GA, Rob Clyatt, Henry Clyatt, Roger Griffin and families. A host of many other cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 138 NE 1st St. Pompano Beach, 33060 on September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Ron Harvey officiating. A visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pompano Beach Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kraeer Funeral Home @ Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Pompano Beach.
