

His celebration of life will be held 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, Florida 33064.
Jerry was born in Ripley, NY to Maxine Potts and Robert Bortner on February 3,1941. He went to school at Washington High in Washington, Indiana. He married Kathleen Marie, on June 17th 1989 in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. He worked as an auto mechanic for Sal’s Towing & Auto Repair for 47 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a die-hard fan and season ticket holder of the Miami Dolphins organization for many, many, years. He loved to fish, tinker around the house, and fix and repair computers. Most of all, he fiercely loved his family and enjoyed teasing his grandkids with his falsies.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his daughters Kay Lorraine and Deborah Bortner. And grandsons Nicholas Ritter and Seth McDonald.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen Marie Bortner, his daughters Trish Bortner, Donna Freebourn and her husband Tom, Theresa Jarrett and her husband Robert, Tracy Puckett and her husband Mike, Amanda Fields and her husband Jimmy, his sons Kevin Bortner, Gerald Bortner, Michael Bortner and his wife Amber, his brother Ron Bortner, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and the fur-baby of the family, Casey.
Memorials may be given to Kraeer Funeral Home on Copans Rd. in Pompano Beach, Fl.
