

Josephine Victoria Luschenat, 103, formerly of Waterbury, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in the comfort of her home in Fort Lauderdale, FL., where she lived for the past 35 years. She was the loving wife of 48 years to the late Gustave James Luschenat who passed away in 1990.
Josephine was born in Waterbury, CT on September 25, 1921, a daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Zupnes. Josephine was a Wilby High School graduate and attended the University of Connecticut. She was the Director of Medical Records at Waterbury Hospital, President of the Connecticut Medical Records Association and President of the Waterbury Chapter of the Quota Club. For over 20 years up to age 97 she served as MRI Greeter and Volunteer Manager at Broward Health Imperial Point, Fort Lauderdale.
Josephine loved to travel, cook incredible meals for her friends and family, read voraciously and was a crossword puzzle expert. She was a daily communicant at St. Coleman Church. In a beautiful exemplary life Josephine always stressed the importance of God, family and country.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Robert James Luschenat, Sr., a retired AF Lieutenant Colonel and his wife, Lana, of Warrenton, Virginia, her loving grandson, Robert James Luschenat, Jr. a Building Automation Technologist, and his wife, Kelly, of Remington, Virginia. She also has been graced with four beautiful great grandchildren, She was predeceased by her sister, Aldona Steponaitis of Waterbury and a brother, Edward Zupnes of Purvis, Mississippi.
A visitation will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home @ Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064, on September 21, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at St. Coleman Catholic Church, located at 1200 S Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL 33062, on September 22, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Road, Watertown, CT.
Anyone wishing to attend the burial are asked to meet directly at the cemetery on Wednesday September 24, 2025.
