

Karen Maxine Overway, age 57, died on March 10, 2023 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Felder and her husband, Brandon Felder; her soon-to-be granddaughter, Anna Felder; her son, Zachary Overway and his fiancée, Ivonne Suarez; her grandson, Jayden Overway; her mother, Barbara Hardison; her sister, Teresa Dillenbeck; her brother, Sidney Thompson and his daughter Heather, her niece, Leslie Coffey and her husband, Chris Coffey, and their children Izzy, Gabby & CJ; her niece Maranda Perkins and her husband, Darren Perkins, and their son Darren Jr; her nephew, Patrick Dillenbeck, and his twin daughters Samantha and Brianna. She is preceded in death by her father, Elzie Thompson Jr.
Karen was born on June 24, 1965 in Munfordville, Kentucky to parents Elzie Thompson Jr and Barbara Hawkins. In 1997, she moved to South Florida to be with family. Her career included positions as Administrative and Executive Assistant and Office Manager, with her last employer being Gables Residential, where she worked for more than 8 years. She graduated from Phoenix University with a degree in Business Administration.
She enjoyed spending time with family, her children and grandson, and her two dogs, Sammie and Shadow. Her family will always remember her as a devoted and selfless family woman and loving mother and grandmother.
A funeral is scheduled for March 15, 2023 on Wednesday at 6pm with a reception to follow at 7pm. A viewing will be held from 4-6pm. Pastor Eddie Bevill from Parkridge Church will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen’s life. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of sympathy and support during this time of great loss.
