Born on September 16, 1941, in Batavia, New York, Lenny was the daughter of the late Beatrice and Raymond Brayley. She attended Rush-Henrietta schools where she met her future husband, Art Bauer, on the school bus — a love story she treasured and shared often. After completing her education and following Art’s service in the Navy, they married in 1960, and settled in the Syracuse area. Together, they built a loving marriage that spanned 60 years and raised two sons, who were her greatest pride and joy.
Art and Lenny later relocated to Houston, Texas, where they both enjoyed successful careers in the Insurance industry. Lenny joined the Brady, Chapman, Holland & Associates in 1986, and helped build the company culture that continues to this day. Lenny was widely admired and respected by her colleagues, as both mentor and leader. One of her greatest accomplishments was serving as the President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston, where she earned the Distinguished Service Award.
Lenny’s greatest joy, however, was her family, which included her beloved pets. She loved traveling, whether it was driving across the country in an RV with Art, or for fun family vacations. Her other hobbies were golfing with friends, boating with her family, and playing card games around the kitchen table. She also filled her days cooking amazing dinners and baking her famous desserts for her friends and family - especially her famous creme puffs, a favorite request.
Upon retirement, Art and Lenny fulfilled their dream of building a beautiful lakefront home in Livingston, Texas. They spent many happy years there together, watching the sunsets with their 2 Labrador retrievers at their feet. After Art’s passing, Lenny moved to Florida to spend her remaining years surrounded by the love of her son Kirk and his children.
Lenny was preceded in death by her beloved husband Art, her parents Raymond and Beatrice Brayley, and her sister Lavonne. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Janet) Bauer and Kirk Bauer, her grandchildren Julia, Karsten and Heidi, and her brother-in-law, Barry (Rosemary) Galetto .
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Lenny’s memory to Trustbridge Hospice Care in Boca Raton, Florida
