Mark William “Luke” Lawson, born April 24, 1950, passed away on December 26, 2025, leaving behind a family and circle of friends who will forever miss his presence, his laughter, and his unmistakable spirit.
Mark was a proud resident of Pompano Beach, Florida, but he grew up in Michigan, a place that shaped both his character and his lifelong loyalties. He was determined, loyal, and stubborn in the best and most memorable way. Once Mark made up his mind, there was no changing it. These qualities showed up everywhere in his life, from how fiercely he loved his family to how passionately he supported his teams.
A true jokester and natural storyteller, Mark was outgoing and often the life of the party. He loved nothing more than grabbing a beer with friends, trading stories, and making people laugh. If you were near Mark, you were probably smiling. He had a way of drawing people in and making everyone feel like they belonged.
Sports were one of his great joys. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions and Michigan football. In later years, he proudly cheered on the Florida State Seminoles — especially enjoying the connection that two of his daughters, Lindsey and Katie, shared as Florida State alumni — and he never missed an opportunity to share his opinions or place a bet.
Above all else, Mark was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughters, Chrissy Murray, husband Chris Murray, Lindsey Meighan, husband Matt Meighan, and Katie Schell, husband Matt Schell, and by his six grandchildren, Kelsey, Emily, Christopher, Kinsley, Matthew, and Harper, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debra Lawson, who passed away in 2006, and by his son, Mark Lawson, who passed away in July of 2025. Despite the losses he endured, Mark continued to show up for the people he loved, carrying both strength and heart in equal measure.
Mark will be remembered as a wonderful dad, a loyal friend, and a man who knew how to enjoy life. His laughter, stubborn opinions, big heart, and love for family and friends will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.
