My eulogy for my grandma's service:

Saturday – October 20th
Good morning, my name is Rachel I am the granddaughter of Elizabeth and the daughter of Ronnie.  I am unable to be here in person to celebrate her life but I wanted to share a few memories from my heart that I have of my grandmother.  My grandma lived her life as a dedicated Christian woman attending the 4th Avenue Church of God for decades.  She had the heart of a servant, loved her children and grandchildren, and wanted everyone to know about Jesus.  She was a giver and gave her time in many areas of her church from teaching Sunday school, to driving the church bus, to cooking fried chicken for church fundraisers.  My grandmother she was an AWESOME cook.  She prepared specialty salads at an upscale hotel on Miami Beach for many years.  Have you ever had her potato salad, macaroni salad, or coleslaw?  Well if you had you probably got her recipe.  Her cooking was outstanding and I myself use many of her recipes today.  
My family moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Ft. Pierce when I was 3 years old but we visited my grandparents on the weekends often.  I remember how every Saturday morning she would cook this big breakfast that consisted of my all-time favorite (which I still love) eggs & grits of course my dad would always have to come “help” her to make sure she was doing it right.  Yes, that is right G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised In The South).  During our visits it ALWAYS consisted of attending church at the 4th Avenue Church of God.  Other activities on those visits were me and my brother sitting in her room for hours talking and watching her favorite TV shows, going through her jewelry box and letting me pick out some costume stuff, or helping her hang clothes out on the line to dry in the back yard it didn't matter what we did, we were just delighted to be there.  My grandparents back yard is another place full of wonderful memories, I couldn't tell you the number of birthday parties, family reunions, cook outs we had full of aunts, uncles, cousins, memories we all will always share.  
We moved to Arkansas later which was a geographical change but our hearts remained knitted together.    Both my granddaddy and my grandma came to AR to attend high school graduations, weddings, etc.  As a matter of fact my wedding was the first time my granddaddy ever flew on an airplane he was 85 years old.     
They loved each and every one of their grandkids.  My grandparents taught their children moral Christian values that continue on through their grandchildren and now into their great grandchildren.    What a legacy my grandmother has left.

My Aunt Elizabeth was such a giving person. She gave me many fine memories growing up. She was always praising the Lord! She was always uplifting and encouraging! She loved and was loved in return.  What more could you ask for? I miss the great family reunions in her back yard in Oakland Park. Aunt Elizabeth could cook better than all the rest of the family combined! And she always had a 'big ol hug' for ya! Knowing her love for Jesus Christ gives us and her family members who are left behind the comfort of knowing that she is,(as Cousin Dottie said) dancing on the streets of gold with her loving Savior, right now! Even though we will miss her for a short time, we too, one day soon, will be dancing on the streets of gold with her at our Great Family Reunion in heaven!
Thank you Aunt Elizabeth for your unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ and evidence of the Holy Spirit! 

Glory to God Always and Forever More!

A precious child of God who will be missed  by many who love her.  My prayers are with her family and friends.

I did not know Mary. But I know her daughter Dottie and so I know Mary was a lovely woman, because Dottie sure is. Prayers for all the family as you celebrate Mary's life and homecoming. God bless you.
