Myrl Dorothy Eskridge

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 W. Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33062 (954-784-4000).

Funeral services will be held 1pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Kraeer Funeral Home, with Dr. Synesio Lyra of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, officiating. Private burial will follow on Friday, December 11, 2020, at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida. Arrangements are by Kraeer Funeral Home.

Myrl was born in Chicago, Illinois to Elston Swanson and Hilda Thoreson Swanson on June 14, 1932. She graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing, from the College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Myrl worked as a respiratory therapist, a Licensed Real Estate Agent, then for many years as a Registered Nurse at Chicago’s Loyola University Hospital, in high risk/OB. Myrl also worked as a Registered Nurse at Chicago’s Hines Veteran Hospital. Among her hobbies were golfing, oil painting, and piloting her two-seater Cessna aircraft. Her best friend, sister Jean Koehler, shared many great times together, especially laughing as they were a constant joy to each other.

She married Harlan Murrell Eskridge on February 26, 2000 in Palm City, Florida. Harlan worked as a lead mechanic for Eastern Airlines for over 30 years. Harlan was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Marines. Harlan was involved in his church and had served in many ways such as chairman of the deacon body and teacher in Sunday School.

Myrl is preceded in death by husband Harlan Murrell Eskridge, previous husband Leon Muka, brother Elston Hubert Swanson, and sister Jean (Swanson) Koelher.

Myrl is survived by:

Son Scott (Jody) Muka, Allegan, Michigan; grandchildren Anthony (Alison) Muka, Jennifer (Phillip) Austin, Kimberly (Beau) Powers; great-grandchildren Caiden Austin, Ellee Austin, Cole Austin, Kyler Austin, Evan Muka, and Logan Muka.

Daughter Gayle (Craig) Voelker, Geneva, Illinois; grandchildren Kara Jones, Lindsey (Joshua) Barlow, Jordan (Lindsey) Byhring, Jason Byhring; great-grandchildren Kayleigh Jones, Abigail Jones, Vivian Barlow, Desmond Barlow, Phoebe Barlow, Stella Byhring, and Brooks Reed Byhring.

Stepson Jeff (Shelley) Eskridge, Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren Bethany and Chase;

Stepson Albert (Cindy) Eskridge, Olive Branch, Mississippi; grandchildren Harlan, Micah, and Grace.
