Patricia Anne Haag was called to her Heavenly Father on December 31, 2018 at John Knox Village Trustbridge Hospice Care Center, Pompano Beach, Florida. The oldest of five children, she was born on August 16, 1931 to Melvin and Alice (Matson) Peterson in the village of Schoolcraft, Michigan. After graduating Schoolcraft High School, Pat was going places. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing, Detroit. She married handsome Theodore Thomas “Ted” Haag, an Air Force Korean War Veteran and Distinguished Flying Cross recipient and had 2 beautiful daughters (her words), Patricia Susan “Sue” and Barbara Ann. Pat was a devoted working mom and loved helping others. She pursued her career as an Obstetrics nurse at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, California. When she moved with her two girls back to Kalamazoo, she became a Visiting Nurse of Kalamazoo County helping patients in their homes and then a psychiatric nurse working nights at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. During her tenure there, she earned her BSN Degree at Western Michigan University. Pat retired after 25 years of dedicated service caring for our Vietnam Veterans.
Pat was always on the go, taking road trips with her family and friends, playing golf, fishing for bluegills on Sugarloaf Lake with her buddy Pete, attending First Pres (Ft. Lauderdale) Bible study, traveling to Sweden to visit cousin Ethel Nilsson, to Upstate NY and Florida to see Sue and husband and to New Jersey to see Barb and family. Pat’s greatest joy was to be with her family and many friends. She was very close to her nieces Jessica (Peterson-Sager) and Julie (Peterson-Lawrence) and adored her two grandsons, Victor and Jared. Pat lived with and cared for her mother Alice for 20 years, and upon her passing, Pat moved to Florida to be close to Sue and late husband Nick Gallo.
Pat is survived by her daughters Patricia Susan “Sue” (Haag) Gallo and Barbara Haag; her son-in-law Victor L. Donahue, Jr.; her cherished grandsons Victor L. Donahue III and Jared Thomas Donahue; her sisters Virginia (Bill) Roberts, Bonnie (Anthony) Kovach and Phyllis (Jack) Bonebright; her brother Marshall (Martha) Peterson; her sisters-in-law Joan (Haag) Osborn and Ruthann (Haag) Bryer and many dear nieces and nephews.
Pat is predeceased by her parents; her ex-husband Ted; her devoted son-in-law Nick Gallo, her beloved sisters-in-law Barbara (Haag) Vogt and Georgia (Haag) Harding, her gregarious brothers-in-law James “Jim” Vogt, Richard Osborn, William “Bill” Roberts and Terrance “Terry” Bryer and nephew William “Billy” Roberts, Jr.
