Robert James Lechot Sr.

LeChot, Sr., Robert J., passed away on June 30, 2011, at the age of 91. He was born in Ft. Wayne, IN, on January 31, 1920, to Dwight Klite LeChot and Ruth Katherine McClellan, and in November 1959, moved his family to Pompano Beach, FL. Robert was married to Joan M. Hoy (predeceased March 1993) for 50 years and together raised 6 children. Robert was an active member of Christ Church United Methodist and American Legion Post 142 where he served as Post Chaplain for many years. He was predeceased by his 2nd wife of 16 years, Betty J. Titus, in January 2011. A WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps, 1941-1944, Robert performed duties as radio controller on B-17s with The Mighty Eighth Air Force. He is survived by his children Joan L. Shewbrooks (Stephen), Richard A. LeChot, Sr. (Constance), Steven M. LeChot, Sr. (Sandra), Deborah L. Barker (Robert), Robert J. LeChot, Jr., Katherine L. Ake (Richard), stepson Jerry Titus (Kathie), 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation is set for 6-9 p.m., July 5, 2011, at Forest Lawn North Funeral Home, 200 W. Copans Rd., Pompano Beach, FL, and the funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., July 6, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Legion Sterling McClellan Post 142, 117 American Legion Blvd., Pompano Beach, FL 33060
