Daniel Coleman Coward, Jr., age 96, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc, MS. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc, a WWII Navy Veteran, and retired furniture designer at MS Eaton Furniture Mfg. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his workshop.

Services will be at 2 PM Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Roger Shock officiating; burial will follow in the Springville Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Dean Coward, of Pontotoc, MS; his daughter: Mitzi Voyles of Pontotoc, MS; five sons: Warner Coward (Patty) of Las Vegas, NV, Danny (Judy) of Amesbury, MA, Johnny Coward (Trisha) of Madison, MS, Phillip Coward (Mary) Tuscaloosa, AL and Cory Coward of Yazoo City, MS; two brothers: Joe Coward (Sherry) of Sacramento, CA and Marvin “Dick” Coward of Pontotoc and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Daniel Coleman Coward, Sr. and Lucy Modenia Gooch Coward; his two sisters: Dot Ray and Sarah Robinson.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM and Thursday from 12 to 2 PM.
