Danny Lynn Carter

Danny Lynn Carter, age 79, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Danny was born on March 2, 1946, to Oscar Harold and Zelter Fay Cannon Carter. He was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran and worked in the air conditioning and heating industry, as well as in the stock brokerage field. Danny’s hobbies included camping, hunting, training dogs, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.

The family will gather on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5 to 7 P.M. for visitation, and a Celebration of Life Service will follow on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc. Danny will be buried in the National Cemetery in Corinth, MS, with Military Honors.

Survivors left to cherish Danny’s memory including his wife, Gayle Marie Carter, a daughter, Lynn Carter Benefield (Junior), a son, Samuel E. Carter (Lelia), a sister, Teresa Holifield, five grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Benefield (Kayla), Autumn Marie Benefield (J.J. Bedford), Haylie Sloane Hudson (Tony), Emilly Marie Carter and Kimberly Lynn Carter, and three great-grandchildren, Carter Ray Hudson, Mattox Wade Hudson and Colson James Bedford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a cousin, Clyde Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be Ben Wray, Jacob Benefield, Junior Benefield, James Hudson, Chandler Hudson and Gary Chunn.
