Elaine Box Hodges, age 88, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Starkville, MS. She was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church and a retired childcare provider. She enjoyed gardening, music and loved children. She was known throughout Pontotoc as “Grandma Hodges”.
Services will be at 1:00pm Friday, November 21, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Pete Gregory officiating; burial will follow in the Woodsprings Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children: Laine Dean and her husband Kenneth of Starkville, MS and John Paul Hodges, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Midland, TX; five grandchildren: Melinda Martin (Barry), Vicky Kisor (Scotty), Christy Barnes (Nate), Elaina Burgess (Wesley) and Amberly Glover (Bob); ten great-grandchildren: Brandon Kisor (Amanda), Mallory Martin, Bailey Martin, Breanna Martin, Hayli Kisor, Will Davis, Claire Davis, Elleana Burgess, Cross Burgess and Snow Glover and one great-great-granddaughter: Birdie Mae Kisor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Earnest Lee Box and Pattie Box; her husband: John Paul Hodges, Sr.; a daughter: Ellawese McCoy; a grandson: William Paul McCoy; and her seven siblings: Melvin Box, Rena Woods, Lee Thurman Box, Shelby Box, Velma McFarland, Dorothy Andrews and Lorene Poss.
