

Murray Harrison Caldwell, age 69, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at NMMC in Pontotoc. He was born September 5, 1945 to Murray and Fay Harrison Caldwell. He graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1963, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from MSU and obtained his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of South Alabama. He was an artist blacksmith. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc, a former Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Pontotoc Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the Rotary Club. He enjoyed running, cycling, hiking, kayaking, camping, reading, playing the guitar, woodworking and blacksmithing. Harrison gave the ultimate gift by being a tissue and long bone donor through MORA.
Services will be at 2:00PM Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc with Rev. Wil Howie officiating; burial will follow in the Ecru Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife: June Josephs Caldwell, his daughter: Carra Turner and husband Chris of Houlka, MS and a son: Reed Caldwell and wife Kathleen Nolte of Brasstown, NC; his sister: Susan Pitts and husband Ervin of Newton, MS; two grandchildren: Colton Turner and Hannah Turner and two nephews: Brian Pitts and David Pitts.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be: Dr. John Black, Jr., Brian Pitts, David Pitts, Wade Holland, Donnie Benjamin and Guy Springer. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Judge James L. Roberts, Jr. and Dr. Forrest Tutor.
Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church on Monday from 5 to 7 PM and on Tuesday from 1 to 2 PM.
