

Jack Demsey Sappington, age 83, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was born July 28, 1930 to Carl Sappington and Gladys Watkins Sappington. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher and he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a cattle buyer and enjoyed draft horse pulling’s.
Services will be at 2:00 Monday, March 10, 2014 at West Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Hamilton and Rev. Dan Young officiating; burial will follow in the West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Staten Sappington; two daughters-in-law: Jamie Owen Sappington and Brenda Helms Sappington, both of Pontotoc, MS; one brother: Stony Sappington (Norma) of Ecru, MS; three grandchildren: Dawn Sappington, Kortney Sappington and Melissa Wise; three great-grandchildren: Alexandra Page, Alice Page and Colton Sappington; and one great-great granddaughter: Molly Kate Page.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sons: Jackie Ray Sappington and Christopher T. Sappington and his brother: Gerald Sappington.
Pallbearers will be: David Owen, Mike Sappington, Gary Higgins, Gary Carroll, Bobby Forman and Terry Weeks. Honorary Pallbearers will be the 5A Men’s Sunday School Class at West Heights.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8PM Sunday at the funeral home and from 12 to 2 PM Monday at West Heights Baptist Church.
