James M. Self

James M. Self, age 69, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at Grace Health Care in Cordova, TN. He was born August 9, 1945 to Jim and Amie Willard Self. He was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church. He gave his life to Christ; he loved church and the Bible. He was an usher for the church services at the nursing home. He was a very caring person and loved to take care and help other people. His friends called him “The Gentle Giant”.

Services will be at 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Pete Gregory officiating; burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his sister: Shirley Frost of Memphis, TN; a niece: Lisa Czarnik and husband Bob; a nephew: Michael Frost and wife Cecilia; four great nieces and nephews: Emily, Ally, Holly and David.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be: Keith Self, David Self, Jerry Self, Michael Frost and Bob Czarnik.

Visitation will be from 10 to 12PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
