1928-2025
Joe Pearson, age 96, was born on December 21, 1928, and passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. He was the youngest son of the late Oscar and Lois Pearson.
Joe grew up in Tennessee and attended Howell High School. His first job was working alongside his father on the family farm, an experience that shaped his lifelong love of hard work and the outdoors. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii following World War II. After his service, Joe embarked on a distinguished career with the Memphis Fire Department, retiring in 1982 as District Chief. He later founded a window and insulation business.
Joe found joy in being outdoors tending his garden, caring for his bee hives, and appreciating the simple beauty of God’s creation.
He met the love of his life, Jeanette (Pickens) Pearson, and after a brief three-month courtship, they married. Together they shared a life full of adventure, travel, and cherished friendships.
He is survived by his daughters, Jenae (Milfy) Weeks of Pontotoc County and Julie (Jason) Floyd of Weakley County, Tennessee; his grandchildren Jonathan, Alaina, Garrett, Tanner, Landon, and Cannon; his sisters-in-law Hazel Pickens and Shirley McGregor; and his devoted caregiver, Mrs. Virginia Dixon.
Joe was a faithful member of West Heights Baptist Church and a dedicated participant in the 6A Sunday School class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanette, and his siblings Grace Simpson, Ed Pearson, and Fred Pearson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 26, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at West Heights Baptist Church. A celebration of Joe’s life will follow at 12:00 noon, with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. His grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to West Heights Baptist Church, 328 West Oxford Street, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the Pearson family with the arrangements.
