Lake Wadelo Waldrop, age 95, passed away on May 14, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House. Lake was born on September 5, 1930, in Randolph, MS, the son of Lake J. and Ricie Anderson Waldrop. He graduated from Randolph High School, attended Holmes Jr. College, Mississippi State College, and the University of Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for 29 years for the Mississippi Department of Public Welfare. He married Mary Jane Schoonmaker in Wilmington, Delaware, in August of 1955. In 1987, he retired to assist his wife at Pontotoc Floral. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pontotoc.
He is survived by a sister, Janice Asher (Don), and a brother, Drew Waldrop (Wanda); several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, William “Billy” Waldrop and John Dirley Waldrop.
Burial was in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc was in charge of the arrangements.
