Leo Wilder, age 93, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Church Street Personal Care Home in Ecru, MS. He was born February 6, 1918 to Tim and Lillie Wilder. He married Jennie Huffstatler on December 20, 1947. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he farmed for several years. He was employed by Rockwell until his retirement in 1980. He was the oldest member of Furrs Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He loved everyone he came in contact with.
Services will be at 2 PM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Furrs Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Herndon and Rev. Tommy Tackett officiating, burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his son: Larry Wilder (Judy) of Furrs and three daughters: Linda Carmack (Ikey), Dian Cruse (Sammy) and Carolyn Jaggers (William Earl) all of Pontotoc, seven grandchildren: Chris Malone, Michael Jaggers, Banji Taylor, Shelley Townsend, John Cruse, Josh Matthews and Amber Raines, nine great grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws and a host of many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jennie Wilder who passed away June 2, 2003, his brother: James and sister: Lois Beasley.
Pallbearers will be: John Cruse, Chris Malone, Michael Jaggers, Josh Matthews, John Townsend, Josh Taylor, Jackie Hill, Dee Dye, Charles Holcomb and Dexter Calloway.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM Friday at the funeral home and from 12 to 2 PM Saturday at Furrs Baptist Church.
