She was born in Pontotoc County in the Springville Community on May 10, 1921 to George Patterson and Susie Pennington Patterson. After graduation from Algoma High School and two years at Wood Jr. College she married Delton Simmons and moved to the Algoma Community.
Mrs. Simmons loved to help her children, helping her son raise baby calves on his dairy farm and her daughter with her embroidery business and restaurant.
She is retired from the Postal Service as a rural carrier, and also worked at the ASCS office, tax collector’s office and the sheriff’s office. After her retirement she got most of her joy working in her yard raising all kinds of beautiful flowers, especially her hybrid tea roses. She loved taking flowers to her friends in the nursing home and fixing flowers for her church. She raised the flowers for many weddings including ones for three of her granddaughters. She never grew tired putting out one flower after another.
She dearly loved the Algoma Community and the Algoma Homemakers Club. She was always telling people she lived at Algoma and how much she loved it.
