Verna Harrison

Verna Harrison, age 93, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She attended County Line Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting dolls, gardening and cooking.

Services will be at 10 AM Monday, March 23, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Pete Gregory officiating; burial will follow in the Guinn Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her son: Jerry Harrison of Pontotoc, MS; three grandchildren: Tammy Tutor (Billy), Teresa Pickering (Allen) and Teri Strickland (Robert) all of Pontotoc, MS; seven great-grandchildren: Natasha Tutor, Shawn Tutor, Eric Vinson, Kayla Magill, Cody Magill, Tim Keith and Tiffany Keith; and one great-great grandchild: Caleb Vinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Swords and Sally Stepp Swords; her sister: Mable Lorisce Hamblin and James Frank Swords; and two sons: Frank Dowdy and William Dalton Harrison.

Pallbearers will be: Robert Strickland, Eric Vinson, Cody Magill, Charles Teague, Shawn Tutor and Cory Boone.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday and from 9 to 10 AM Monday at the funeral home.
