
Whitman Thomas “Whit” Fleming, age 90, of Tupelo, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at his residence. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Ware and Rev. Doug Westmoreland officiating, burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his three daughters: Martha Wilson (Lavert) of Saltillo, MS; Shirley Sanders of Tupelo and Dianne Moody (Billy) of Guntown, MS; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joe Fleming and Annie Galloway Fleming, his wife: Dora Payne Fleming, his daughter: Ann Collins, granddaughter: Lori Collins; grandson: Ronnie Dale Wilson, three sisters: Rennie Mae Fitts, Dovie Waters and A.Thomas and three brothers: James Fleming, Ransom Fleming , Raymond Fleming and Clarence Fleming.
Pallbearers will be: Ray Stanford, Danny Stanford, Jerry Stanford, Larry Collins, Mike Collins, Steve Wilson, John Wilson and Terry Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday and from 12 to 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
