
She was born in Oxford, Mississippi on June 17,1928. She was a homemaker, as well as, a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a ladies' Sunday school teacher. In addition, she served as a teacher in the Women's Jail Ministry. Her favorite hobby was playing golf and giving golf lessons to her children and grandchildren. She was also active in the community and a member of numerous clubs and organizations, including Woman's Club, WMU, PTA, Pearl River County Hospital Auxiliary, and Gideon's International Auxiliary. Being a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts of America gave her much enjoyment. Mrs. Stringer was a former recipient of Poplarville Citizen of the Year and served on the PRCC Board of Trustees.
For numerous years she was involved in mission trips to areas which included Honduras, Nigeria, Mexico, and Barbados.
Surviving family members include three children, Susan Smith, Becky Dale, and John Stringer; four siblings, Morris Lovelady, Charlotte King, Dr. Joe Lovelady, and Frank Lovelady; sons-in-law, Allen Smith and Rocky Dale; daughter-in-law, Susan Prouse Stringer, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Fronie Lovelady; her husband, Dr. W.F. Stringer; her son, Bill Stringer, her grandson, Justin Dale, her two brothers, June Lovelady and Bill Lovelady.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Poplarville at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Anthony, Dr. Joe Lovelady, and Bob King officiating. Pallbearers were Dustin Bounds, Jonathan Dale, Carl Myers, Casey Myers, Ricky Smith, and Will Stringer. Interment was in Poplarville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Gideon's International, PO Box 411, Poplarville, MS, 39470.
