Bessie Lewis

Mrs. Lewis was born on Saturday, February 23, 1935, in Bassfield, Mississippi, to the late Alfred Clayton Tims and Sara Alice Elinsburg Tims. She was admired by her children for her unwavering work ethic and her deep devotion to family. Maggie was a faithful servant of the Lord and attended Murray Hill Church of God until her health no longer permitted. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Delmer Paul Lewis; her son, William Paul Lewis; and her sons-in-law, Raymond Charles Golleher and Charles Michael Knapp.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carolyn Norene Golleher and Violet Marie Knapp; her sons, Allen Larry Lewis (Lena) and Nelson Arnold Lewis (JoAnne); her sisters, Pauline, Pearline, Ileane, Kat, and Evelyn Jones (Fred); her brother, Herman “Buck” Tims; along with her grandchildren, Greg Hearne (Angie), Renee Hearne, Raymond Golleher (Leah), Tanya Jones, Teresa Martinlioch, Jennifer Mack (Greg), Thor Barnes, Jessica Barnes (Greg), William “Paul” Lewis (Terrel), Maggie Lewis (Eddie), and Thomas Lewis.Mrs. Lewis is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Hill Church of God Cemetery.
