Danny Clark Travis Sr. of Poplarville, Mississippi departed this life into God’s presence on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the age of 69. Danny was born to Johnny and Alberta Travis on August 14, 1954 in Poplarville. He was the Environmental Services Supervisor at Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home for 32 years and one of the first well known black entrepreneurs in Poplarville. He was known for his hard work ethic and caring for his family. In his spare time, he loved to fish, so much that he built his own catfish pond. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Travis and Alberta Monday Travis, his first born infant son; his sister, Carrie Ward; his brother, Terry Travis; and his special friend, Lisa Harris.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his two daughters; Consuela Travis and Alberta Travis; sons, Danny Clark Travis Jr. (Kenya); Gabe Penton; step- son, Thad “T-Joe” Harris; sisters, Glenda Robinson (John Edward), Teresa Travis and Linda Bullock (Willie); brothers, Ricky Travis and Ray Travis (Catherine); grandchildren, Kaelin Travis and Raynah Travis; his ex-wife, Debbie Travis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 11:00 Am until noon with some words shared by Pastor Cook to follow at Triumph Missionary Baptist Church (412 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Poplarville, MS 39470).
