Edgar Hollis Rawls

Funeral services will be at WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Ford's Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Rawls was born August 31, 1923 in Poplarville, Mississippi to James Ollie and Julia Anderson Rawls. He was a member of Murray Hill Church of God and a retired carpenter. He was a Sergeant First Class (retired) in the Mississippi Army National Guard 1065 Transportation Company in Poplarville and a World War II veteran. He was a jailer with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department under Sheriffs Lawrence Holliday and James Smith.

Family members include his wife of 68 years, Virgie L. Smith Rawls; three sons, Rickey J. (Freda) Rawls, Ronnie D. Rawls, Paul Michael (Beverly) Rawls; one brother, Thomas Rawls; one sister, Ada Mae Terry; seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, Horace Rawls, Robert Rawls, Clarence Rawls, Terry Rawls, Bruce Anderson; fivesisters, Ollie Mae Presley, Mattie Head, Virginia Johnson, Jewel Tarver, and Bernice Hardee.
