Elizabeth Ann Gilbert

Funeral services will be at White Funeral Home, 315 Hwy 11 South, Poplarville on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 am. Rev. Stan Davis will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in State Line, MS at 3:30 pm. The family will receive friends and have visitation one hour prior to the service, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gilbert was born in Millry, Alabama to Nelson and Fannie Allen on January 17, 1925. "Bill" as she was affectionately known, was the matriarch of the family. Throughout her life, her faith and love in Jesus Christ guided her and gave her energy in her pursuits. She was a member of Juniper Grove Baptist Church. By trade, she was a hairstylist. She was active in the Triple C Cattle Company with her son and grandson. Over the years, she was a founding member of the Poplarvillle Homemakers Club - being a State Champion Seamstress and also helped organize the First Annual Blueberry Jubilee. She was a member spouse of the Pearl River County, World War II POW Club. She traveled often, and had visited all of the lower 48 states.

Mrs. Gilbert never met a stranger and was known for being a wonderful example of a Christian friend, neighbor, and active member of her community. Friends and family for many years past have fond memories of visits at the farm whether talking for hours on the front porch, fishing in the lake, or eating her delicious home cooking. Mrs. Gilbert was blessed with a long eventful life that allowed her to see a great many things through several generations. She had a special way of handing down and teaching life's lessons, traditions, and memorable stories. She never failed to give our God all the glory and praise no matter what the situation was at hand. Because of her beautiful example and loving investment in so many Mrs. Gilbert will forever be with us.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Cragin Gilbert; one granddaughter, Nicole Gilbert; two sisters, Cassie Williams, Lola Daughtery; and one brother, Thurmond "Tub" Allen.

Family members include her son, Cragin Gilbert, Sr. (Carolyn); two grandchildren, Jennifer Farris, Cragin Gilbert, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Cade Farris, and Cole Farris.
