Elsie Elizabeth Gillenwater

Elsie Elizabeth “Liz” Gillenwater passed away on September 12, 2016. She was surrounded by family and friends prior to her passing. Liz was born on May 21, 1937 to Joe and Rhoda Wright. Liz never met a stranger and loved talking to everyone. She always had a happy spirit and she lived her life to the fullest.

During her life she worked at many places: the Friendship House, Wilson’s Department Store, A&P Grocery, Gayfers, Harrison County Tax Collector and Classique Bowling Alley. She was a hair stylist by profession. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grand-children and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Glen, Bill, Bob and Ross; and two sisters, Kathleen Harmon and Eula “Shorty” Estes.

She is survived by her sister Opal Davidson (Joe), her daughter, Tracie Ladner (Bobby), son Tom Gillenwater (Bonnie), grandsons Greg Ladner (Kim), Scott Ladner and his girlfriend Lydia, Tommy and Brian Gillenwater, three great-grandchildren, Alison, Colton and Stryker.

Heartfelt gratitude is given to St. Joseph Hospice and their staff for their care, kindness and compassion.

A private memorial will be held in her remembrance and her final resting place will be in Crossville, TN.
