

Frances Ellen Hurst Schlaudt was born on January 6th, 1931, in Poplarville, MS. During her 92 years, she filled our lives with adventurous escapades, entertaining anecdotes, and a double-dose of Southern hospitality. Fran’s life was marked by numerous achievements – she graduated from Judson College with a double major in French and Music, she was Miss Hospitality of Poplarville, and she was involved in various student government initiatives. Fran’s hobbies included spending time with her family, playing piano, arranging flowers, cooking, and cheering on the Houston Astros. Additionally, Fran was heavily involved with her church family and served by singing in the Second Baptist Church choir and teaching Sunday school for over thirty years. Fran’s life was distinguished by her solid faith in God and active love for her family. Her favorite hymn, “Amazing Grace,” stayed in her mind and in her heart until the very end.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her father Louis, her mother Eva, her sister Mary Louise, and her brother L.A. She is survived by her son, W. Robin Schlaudt, Jr., his wife Sherry, and their seven children, Jennifer, John, Jeffrey, Joshua, Joel, Joanna, and Jessica; her son, John Louis Schlaudt and his wife, Laurie, their two children, Randall and Amanda; and her daughter, Frances Marion Schlaudt Yancey and her husband, James, and their two children, Madeline and William; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Poplarville City Cemetery in Poplarville, MS, on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Texas Baptist Children’s Home or Gracewood in Houston, TX.
