Joyce “Imogene” Hoadley departed this life into God’s presence on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the age of 91. Imogene was born on June 1, 1933 to Oscar and Vida Dunn. After graduating from Poplarville High School and attending Pearl River Community College, she and the love of her life, Alton traveled the world with their daughters as a military family experiencing every culture they encountered with open minds and deep appreciation. Imogene and her family returned to Poplarville in 1967 and planted their roots permanently. She was known for her excellence as a seamstress, was devoted to her role as a bible study leader at Oak Hill Baptist Church and stood strong in her faith. Imogene was the epitome of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Imogene is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Alton V. Hoadley and her brother, Virgil Dunn.
Left to forever cherish her memory are her daughters, Deborah Jean Naron and Kathy (Brant) Smith; grandchildren, Heather Naron-Hiller (Kevin), Blake (Hannah) Breland, Ben (Nikki) Breland, and Coulter Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Breland, Lily Phares, Caroline Phares, Jett Smith, Marley Smith, Cameron Breland and Halle Breland.
Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Shane Moore and Dalton Hicks, will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Oak Hill Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Blake Breland, Ben Breland, Coulter Smith, Dewayne Dunn, Barry Dunn, Kent Dunn, Tyler Breland and Kevin Hiller serving as pallbearers.
