Lillie Mae Morris

Lillie Mae Morris, 88, of Poplarville (Derby Community), passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Morris was born October 23, 1931 in Poplarville, Mississippi to William Gordon Johnson and Verna Gertrude Taylor Johnson. She was a retired seamstress with Movie Star Industries and Garrett Industries and a member of Derbyplace Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Morris was an accomplished artist and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Olen Johnathan Morris, Sr., two children, Mattie Lea Penton, Betty Lenette Frakes; siblings, Paul George Johnson, Louise Knight, Daisy Dillard; grandchildren, Elecia Morris, Gennifer Morris; great granddaughter, Rayahnna Ladner.

Family members include her children, Selva Eugene Morris, Sr., Hattie Louise (Rusty) Cowart, Olen Johnathan (Stephanie) Morris, Jr., Anita Lynn Ladner; siblings, Aaron Gordon (Sonja) Johnson, Jesse Ennis (Shirley) Johnson, Wesley Andrew (the late Tammy) Johnson; sixteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Derbyplace Missionary Baptist Church (9675 Highway 11, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Hester Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening after 6:00 pm at the church.
