Mrs. Smith was born February 2, 1931 in Carriere, Mississippi to A.Z. Penton and Emma Lumpkin Penton. She was a retired book keeper. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Poplarville - serving on numerous committees, choir member, and Sunday School Teacher for 8-9 year old boys. She was a member of the Poplarville Woman's Club and Poplarville Garden Club. She was a devoted and active member of the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Eugene "Gene" Smith; four siblings, Aubrey M. Penton, Sr., Mike Penton, Sr., Ernestine Morrison, and Clyde B. Penton.
Family members include two children, Frank (Janet) Smith, Margaret Ann "Maggie" Smith; three grandchildren, Mikel W. (Whitney) Smith; Kimberly S. (Erik) Waller, Justin O. Smith; four great grandchildren, Hayden Waller, Averie Waller, Josie Smith, and Penton Smith.
Memorial services will be at White Funeral Home, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
