Roger Wayne Davis, a devoted husband, father and proud "Pappy," passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy built with calloused hands, steady faith and a heart anchored firmly in family.
Roger was a beloved husband of Jo Lynn, a partnership marked by loyalty, laughter and shared miles on life's winding road. He was a proud father to Seth and Lindsay and his greatest delight was being "Pappy" to Drake, Lucas and Blair, who knew him as a source of strength, stories, fun and steady love.
A pipe fitter by trade, Roger was a man who understood the quiet dignity of hard work. He built not only with tools and steel, but with integrity and perseverance, showing up each day with purpose. Outside of work, he carried a deep love for the outdoors, finding peace in hunting, fishing and time spent under open skies. Time spent with his family, working around his house and watching his grandchildren's activities filled his days with joy and meaning.
Roger was deeply patriotic, holding a sincere love for his country that shaped how he lived and served. He also had a fondness for firearms, appreciating them as part of his lifestyle and traditions.
His faith in Christ guided him throughout his life. As a deacon in his church, Roger served faithfully, offering quiet leadership, encouragement and a steady example of what it means to walk with conviction and grace.
He will be remembered as a man who loved fiercely, worked tirelessly and lived faithfully. His presence was like a well-built home, strong, steady and welcoming. Though he is gone from this world, the foundation he laid in the lives of those who love him will stand for generations.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Shirlene and Durward and his brother, Jimmy.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jo Lynn Gill Davis; one daughter, Lindsay (Loren) Shorba; one son, Seth (Megan) Davis; three grandchildren, Drake Shorba, Lucas Shorba and Blair Davis; extended family and two special friends, Keith Bickham and DeWayne Terrell.
Roger will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Family and friends are invited to attend Roger's visitation at Oak Hill Baptist Church, 579 Oak Hill Road, Poplarville, Mississippi, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, followed by his Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Vision 20/20 building fund of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
