Alfred 'Monte' Cyril Beaumont Smith

Monte Smith passed away peacefully in Port Alberni on Sunday, September 11, 2016 the age of 83.

Missing him dearly are his wife of 60 years Audrey; children Susan (Stewart), Donald, Colleen (Reese) and Lorraine (Bruce); grandchildren Silas, Simon, Duncan, Kyle, Kaylum, and Cameron; great grandchildren Payton, Gabriella, Paige and Nahanni; sister Pat (John); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends.

Monte was born in the interior of BC and came to Port Alberni in 1956 where he started working at the McMillan and Bloedel Mill in the Instrument Department for 40 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, traveling and fishing – he was especially fond of the area near Bell’s Bay on the Alberni Canal. Monte also enjoyed skiing and was a director of the Arrowsmith Ski Hill. He shared his passion for the outdoors and fishing with his children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Alberni Valley United Church, 3747 Church Street. Stories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.chapelofmemories.ca
