Born in Lethbridge Alberta in 1928, to parents August and Minna Ollech. She had 6 brothers, Fred, Albert, Walter, George, Carl and Otto and 1 sister Emma. In 1947, she married the love of her life James in Chilliwack BC. They later moved to Port Alberni where they had their two beautiful daughters, Sharon and Ruby.
Alice began her working life as a clerk at Woolworth Department Store, where she was also an active union member. She began working at the Beaufort Hotel, where she worked as a waitress for most of her career. Alice became a familiar and friendly face to many in the community, greeting guests with kindness and care. Even years after her retirement, people would stop to say hello and recall being served by her at the Beaufort—a testament to the lasting connections she made and the impression she left on those around her.
Alice was predeceased by her parents August and Minna Ollech, her husband James, brothers Fred, Albert, Walter, George, Carl, sister Emma, and daughter Sharon.
Alice is survived by her brother Otto, daughter Ruby (John), son-in-law David, grandchildren Sonya, Don and Chris (Tara), great grandchildren Grayson, Chase, Kelly, Jesse, Madeline and Finley and many nieces and nephews.
From the bottom of our hearts we thank the staff at Rainbow Gardens for the love and care they have shown Alice while she lived there.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at The Barclay Hotel - Arrowsmith Room
