Bertilla Teresa Andreatta

Predeceased by husband Giuseppe, daughter Elise, parents Amelia and Stefano, and sister Zita ; She is lovingly survived by children Jennie, Nancy and Dean (Marilyn); grandchildren Natalie, Steven, Maria, Michael, Mathew, Ryan (Katica) and Chad (Ashley); great grandchildren Nicholas, Jack, Ella and Lauren; siblings Lidia, and Peter as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Italy in 1927, Bertilla came to Port Alberni in the early 1950’s with her husband Giuseppe and 1 year old daughter Elise to build a new and promising life for her family. She was a generous, loving, soft spoken and proud woman; who laughed easily, had a lovely sense of humor and always put her family first. Along with her husband she was part of the Italian community and enjoyed activities with their large circle of friends. When her youngest daughter Nancy was born with Downs Syndrome, Bertilla became involved with volunteering for the B.C. Special Olympics Parent Committee, Bowling programe, and the Mentally Handicapped Association in the Valley for over 25 years.

She will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Her legacy will live on in each of us whose lives were touch by this angel.

A Mass will be held on 11:00am Friday, May 29, 2015 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, with Father Stephen Paine officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking to honor her memory with donations to the Port Alberni Valley Hospice Society, 2649 – 2nd Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 1Z8 or Alzheimer Society of BC, .

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Echo Village for all of their love and care during her stay there and also the Alberni Valley Hospice Society for their loving comfort during her last few remaining days.
