David Scott Bishop

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Bishop on May 25, 2022 in Port Alberni, B.C.

He is predeceased by his parents Reverend Boyd and Frances Bishop. He is survived by his partner Gay Allen, his children Scott (Heather), Jennifer (Hans) and Heather (Doug), their mother Jean, and his much beloved grandchildren Heidi, Marcus, Graeme, Cassandra and Emma. He is also survived by his sisters Mary (Calgary, AB), Ruth (Lakeville, NB), Heather (Ottawa, ON) and their families.

Dave was born in Antigonish, NS and grew up the maritimes. As a youth he enjoyed spending time at his grandparents’ farms and playing various sports, especially basketball. He graduated from Dalhousie High School in 1961 before moving to B.C.

Dave graduated from UBC Forestry in 1972 and spent his career on Vancouver Island in Sayward and Port Alberni predominantly with MacMillan Bloedel at Kelsey Bay, Eve River and Sproat Lake Divisions.

In his retirement Dave enjoyed spending his time travelling, building in his workshop, tending to his garden, golfing, working with the junior golf program and supporting his church.

We would like to thank the palliative care team and the staff at Ty Watson Hospice House for their care of Dave/Dad.

Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00pm on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Trinity Anglican + Lutheran Church in Port Alberni.
