

David Mikkelson passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on April 20, 1951, in Bella Coola General Hospital, David spent his life contributing to his community and family with unwavering dedication.
David was a respected truck driver for Sidney Freight Lines and served as the long-time President of the Vancouver Island Beekeepers. His commitment to the Alberni Valley Drag Race Association (AVDRA) as a long-time executive member and volunteer was a testament to his passion for cars and drag racing.
David's personal interests included expert car detailing, a love for woodworking, and a passion for beekeeping and honey production. His involvement in many community events around Port Alberni showcased his commitment to his community.
He was a devoted caregiver to his brother, Wayne.
He is survived by his brother, John (Karen) Mikkelson; his daughter, Tammy (Kelly) Lang; and his son, Robert Mikkelson. David was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren.
David was very close with his Brother John, wife Karen and their children and grandchildren. David was a loved Uncle and Great Uncle to his nieces and nephews. David and John would do many road trips together for years to various car shows and drag races. Over the last few years David and John would do an annual trip to Alberta to see the North West National Drags in Wetaskiwin and then travel down to Calgary to visit David’s daughter and family. These trips were one of the highlights of the year for David. He will be missed by many and we would love for you to share a picture or a memory for the family to see.
A celebration of David's life will be held in Spring 2026. His legacy of kindness and dedication will be cherished by all who knew him.
