Debbie was born to Rudge and Gwen Butt (predeceased) on October 5th, 1952 in Mississauga, Ontario. She was the 3rd sibling of six and sister to Terry (Kathy), Maureen, Graydon (Vicky, predeceased) Darren (Mary), and Kelly (Michele). Debbie is also survived by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Debbie was a loving mother to her sons Greg, (Nathália) and Sean (predeceased) and she was known as "Nana" to her grandchildren Sarah and Jamie; the lights of her life.
Professionally, Debbie worked in the field of Developmental Support Services at Huronia Regional Center in Orillia, ON and at the Muskoka Center in Gravenhurst, ON. Once these facilities closed, she continued her career path supporting adults with special needs and transitioned to Employment Services and worked with Indigenous groups in Northern Alberta. Debbie was a compassionate and dedicated professional.
During her early married years as a young mother, Debbie’s family moved to a variety of locations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. She was a devoted “hockey mom” and loved to entertain friends and family, especially at their home on Muskoka Lake, ON. Debbie finally settled with her beloved dogs in Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, BC, where she could be closer to both of her sons and sister, Maureen.
In more recent years, Debbie had to contend with significant health issues, which necessitated her staying closer to home. However, she always reached out and connected with friends and family through regular phone calls and cherished her time with Sarah and Jamie (grandchildren).
Despite her health concerns, Debbie always remained upbeat and in good spirits. Having strong spiritual faith, Debbie believed that she would someday be with her Mom, Dad, and son Sean. May she be at peace with them now.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will take place at 11:00 am on July 27, 2024 at the Oar restaurant (530 Muskoka Rd. N) in Gravenhurst, ON.
