Dona passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 17, 2014 at Westhaven Care Facility which has been her home for almost the past two years. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Ray), son Ed (Tracey), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Dona's family would like to thank Dr. deWitt and the nurses, care workers and volunteers at Westhaven for their compassionate care and activities which she enjoyed (especially gardening) while she lived there. Dona did not want a funeral or flowers.
As many people know, she was an earth angel who went out of her way to help everyone she met all through her life. She was always giving people books, pamphlets, gifts and information whether for a business they were starting or for their health/life problems (including cartoons to uplift their spirits). She spent many, many hours searching, photocopying and shopping for information and items that she felt they needed even though she didn't have much spare time or income herself. She also did a lot of knitting and sewing, (custom designing or altering clothing as needed) including designing and sewing her daughter's wedding gown, train and veil. She could adjust knitting patterns whether to make a maternity sweater or a small dog sweater. Her whole life was spent gaining knowledge and sharing her knowledge. Dona was very spiritual and we know that she will continue to help us.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep...
As per Dona's request, cremation has taken place and she did not want a service or flowers.
