Eric Thomas Vicic

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved, son, brother, nephew, and cousin, Eric Vicic on August 13th, 2024 in Port Alberni B.C. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues, particularly his parents: Mother Petra (Rob), Father Ken (Veronika), Sister Krista New (Scott) and nephew Riley New.

In his early years he enjoyed school and was an avid participant in team sports including soccer, baseball but particularly hockey, he was a standout goalie for 10 years with Hastings Minor Hockey in Vancouver. He enjoyed drawing and photography for most of his life. One of his newest hobbies was paddle boarding which he had taken up recently. Family was very important to Eric, especially summers at the Beach in Osoyoos with parents, grandparents, cousins and family friends.

Eric had an adventurous spirit that loved to travel. He spent a year in Australia and enjoyed international travel.

During his working life Eric worked for Ticket Master and Milestones In Vancouver. In 2013 Eric moved to Port Alberni where he lived with his Mom and Step Dad for a short time before venturing out on his own. In 2017 Eric attended North Island College to Qualify as an outreach worker. He Graduated from the program with honours and was on the Dean’s List. In 2016 his therapy cat “MOMO” entered his life. He was his friend, companion and buddy!

During his working life in Port Alberni, Eric worked for Canadian Mental Health at various locations. More recently Eric was an Outreach Worker as part of a team covering the West Coast of Vancouver Island for Kuu-us, where he made many friends and was loved and respected by friends, co-workers, clients, and the community. Eric was a very compassionate, caring, loving, and kind person. He will be greatly missed by his Parents, Sister(& Family), and his extended family.

We are grateful for the love and support shown us by family, friends, co-workers, and the community. Special thanks to Steve Muise and Kara Bryant for their love and never ending support for Eric.

Vancouver Celebration of Life to be held at The Slovenian Hall, 5762 Sprott St. Burnaby, B.C. V5G 1T7

Saturday, September 28, 2024, 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
