It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Gaetz, peacefully at home surrounded by family, on April 24, 2025 at the age of 81. With love and fond memories we hold him dear. Born on August 16, 1943, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Francis lived a life rich with love, laughter, and service.
Francis was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—hunting, fishing, golfing, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends. Known for his warm spirit and generous heart, he was a true pillar of the community.
Francis dedicated 40 years of his career to Mac and Bloe Pulp and Paper and gave 28 years of committed service to the Cherry Creek Volunteer Fire Department. In retirement, he remained active and engaged as a proud member of the Echo Sunshine Club.
He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Helena Gaetz; siblings Ralph (Anne) Gaetz, Simon (Yvette) Gaetz, sister-in-law Jackie Gaetz (John), and Anna (Sam) Prpich; and in-laws Ed and Mary-Lou McLaughlin, Gerald Shiner, and Dennis Isaacson.
Francis is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barb; daughters Laura Gaetz and Stacy (Corey) Watton; and grandchildren Katie-Ann Gaetz (Justin), Cole (Jessie) Haider, and Krista Watton (Riley). He is also survived by his brothers Joe (Chris) Gaetz and John Gaetz; and in-laws Jeanette Isaacson, Russ (Anne) McLaughlin, Maureen Shiner, and Bob (Sandy) McLaughlin, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory close.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Notre Dame Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the love, support, and comfort shown during this time of sorrow. Francis will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
