

James Dominic King passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, following complications from a hypoglycemic stroke and pneumonia. He was born on September 27, 1970, in St. Paul, Alberta, to Walter and Dorothy King. James grew up in Port Alberni and was a graduate of Alberni District Senior Secondary. He continued his education at Malaspina College in Nanaimo.
James is predeceased by his father, Walter, and his brother, Christopher. He is lovingly remembered and deeply loved by his mother, Dorothy, and his siblings Maria, Joseph, Linda, Francis, Michael, and Walter, as well as extended family and friends.
In his younger years, James was active in soccer, baseball, taekwondo, and swimming sports programs. His athletic spirit led him to compete in numerous swimming events as a proud member of the Port Alberni Tsunami Swim Club.
James was a man of deep conviction to the Catholic faith. He spoke openly about his faith and prayed constantly for those around him. James's legacy is one of prayer, perseverance, and loving witness.
James was helped along his journey by many people and organizations. He was a longtime member of the New Horizon Clubhouse, which offered him friendship and support. His family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care James received at West Coast General Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Notre Dame Roman Catholic Parish, located at 4731 Burke Rd, Port Alberni, BC, V9Y 5P1, Canada. The service is scheduled for January 24, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A reception with snacks and refreshments will follow in the church hall.
He will be laid to rest at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, located at 6240 Moore Rd., Port Alberni.
