It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Fraser McKay on July 18, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with dementia. He was 87.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on October 14, 1937, Jim moved with his family to Ocean Falls, BC as a child. It was there he spent his formative years- growing up, working, and starting a family. In 1969 Jim relocated to the Alberni Valley, where he began a long and dedicated career with MacMillan Bloedel (Alberni Pacific Division), retiring in 1994.
Jim was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and great--grandfather. He is lovingly remember by his three sons: James, Darryl (Tracy) and Kevin (Colleen); his six grandchildren: and twelve great-grandchildren
A man of the outdoors, Jim found joy in golf, hunting and fishing. He was happiest with a rod in hand, a fairway ahead, or surrounded by nature.
In accordance with Jim's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast work ethic, and deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and treasured memories.
