Ken is predeceased by his daughter Joyce, his brother Clare, and his loving wife of 64 years Elaine. Survived by his sons Darrell (Lorie), Allan (Colleen), Tim(Heather), grandchildren: Cady, Tanya, Kurtis (Darrell), Christine, Patrick (Allan).
Born in Seymour Creek, North Vancouver, BC., Ken started out his working life as a whistlepunk in the logging industry, later an iron worker which took him all over BC and eventually to Trail where he met Elaine. They wed in 1951 and lived in several places before settling in Port Alberni in 1964. Ken was a millwright at Alpulp until 1975, and then he owned and operated Scotty’s Towing until 1979 when he retired.
Ken was a 35 yr. member of St. John’s first-aid and loved volunteering for the local events in the Valley over the years. He spent many hours enjoying his boat back in the day and put lots of miles on the motorhome taking Elaine on trips. He enjoyed clogging and had many fond memories to share with us.
Ken spent the last year of his life with the struggles of dementia but he did it with lots of love and support and we thank everyone who helped Ken with his journey, he could not have done it without each and every one of you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Arrowsmith Baptist Church, 4283 Glenside Rd., with Pastor Leland Botzet officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the SPCA at 4936 Broughton St., Port Alberni, BC.
